Information Technology Specialist

This position serves as the senior IT Specialist, in the Administration Division at the Natchez Trace Parkway. The incumbent provides management of IT services to all staff, geographically located across three states. The incumbent provides for planning, administration, procurement, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of a complex IT system, including networks, radios, telephones, databases, credentialing unit, and all supporting hardware and software. The major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Designs, plans, implements, coordinates and administers a large, complex, integrated and graphically dispersed IT network. Installs, tests, and directs the operation and installation of software and hardware which includes personal computers, printers, servers, and other peripheral equipment; Provides computer installation, maintenance, and operation, documenting procedures for operating and maintaining an array of hardware and software capabilities; Determines approved IT hardware, software and associated products, develops and updates IT spend plan; Performs IT Help Desk services and prioritizes IT tickets. Troubleshoots system and equipment errors and connectivity problems and resolves most problems; Troubleshoot and maintain the stability of communications lines and equipment. Installs, configures, and troubleshoot LAN components such as routers, hubs, switches, and servers. Install, test, and configure network workstations and peripherals; Identifies complex computing and networking problems from FootPrints ticket, determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations; Provides technical support to users in the identification, design, development, and implementation of approved applications; Assists in Life Cycle replacement of computers to end-users. Provides Bison Connect, and Windows OS information to individuals or groups effectively,; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; Works with supervisor on a daily basis; planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and IT accountability using the DI-105 documentation; Serves as administrative IT manager of Credentialing System. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/27/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. Experience:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. In addition to the above minimum qualifications, applicants must also possess the following:
SPECIALIZED
Experience:
One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as:
1) Providing cost-benefit analyses to provide technical leadership on group projects; 2) Providing network services that support customer requirements and plans; 3) Integrating network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructures within cost and budget specifications; and 4) Reviewing systems at all stages of the lifecycle for effectiveness and efficiency. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
