Supervisory Park Ranger (P)

This position serves as s Supervisory Park Ranger and Chief of Ranger Activities at the Natchez Trace Parkway and is a member of the management team. The incumbent provides maintenance and preservation management of Parkway facilities ensuring safe and usable recreational opportunities for visitors and staff. The incumbent provides for planning, administration, leadership and management of the Ranger Division. He/she serves a key member of the Parkway's organization and serves with line authority for the Division's operations. In addition, he/she supervises the Mississippi Fire Management Zone's Fire Management Officer (FMO), and manages a Training and Evaluations Program (FTEP) field training program. Selective Factors:

Must currently possess, previously held (within the past three years), or be able to obtain a valid Type I National Park Service (NPS) Law Enforcement Commission, or equivalent prior to appointment. More information can be found in the 'Education' section of this job announcement. Must have a current, valid State Driver's License prior to appointment. - AND - GS-13:

SPECIALIZED
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience could include:
Park Guide or tour leader; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; or other similar work. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer
Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
